Born in Antwerpen (Belgium), Leroy's family worked in the diamond trade so much of Leroy's growing years were spent in Africa moving between South Africa & Ivory Coast.
When war broke out in 2003 in the Ivory Coast Leroy & his family left for Togo.
From Togo Leroy then moved to the romantic city of Paris, where he lived for 6 years before settling in the Flanders region of Belgium at the tender age of 16yrs.
After several years Leroy's Grandfather but also idol needed care during illness, so at 22yrs Leroy committed himself to caring for him in his final years.
During WWII Leroy's Grandfather saw his entire family taken by the Nazis (9 brothers & sisters and his parents) Leroy's Grandfather always believed that Israel was the Jewish homeland.
Before his death, Leroy and his Grandfather watched a film together about the war in Israel and the Tzanhanim paratroopers. It was at that moment Leroy's Grandfather told him something very poignant: “If I were your age, my dream would have been to go to Israel and to be in "Tzanhanims”.
So a few month later, during his final days, Leroy told him in his bed that he will fulfill his Grandfather's dream to serve and protect the country that received them, the country that they loved.
Before his death, he gave to Leroy a necklace with the letter 'ח׳' on it. Leroy then decided to have it tattooed on his arm to ensure that a piece of his Grandfather's memory will always be with him.
In 2017 Leroy made 'Aliyah' and joined the IDF at the age of 23 joining the Paratroopers brigade. The Tzanhanim, his Grandfather's dream.
